Insurance/Recovery Tip:
You should know that there are more stringent contractor laws after a Federally Declared Disaster:
 
...it is illegal and punishable as a felony to perform contracting work in a declared disaster area without a California contractor's license. Punishment may include a fine of up to $10,000 or up to 16 months in state prison."
 
Do your homework before hiring a contractor. One place to start is the website Contractors From Hell.

    San Bernardino County
        Insurance claim leads to prosecution 
A Cedar Glen man has surrendered himself to San Bernardino County Superior Court in connection with a claim that his house was damaged in an October 2007 wildfire. A Friday news release from the state insurance commissioner's office said Olav A. Flores, 35, turned himself in on May 16 after learning an arrest warrant had been issued charging him with one count of insurance fraud.
